As an educator, I felt a need to do something to give back to my community. Through community outreach and education I am able to do just that. One goal is to provide community education on water safety including laws and legislation so that children in our community do not become drown and become statistics. Other educational goals include wearing helmets to keep the brain safe, how the brain learns, movement and the brain, Shaken Baby Syndrome, Early Childhood Development and Mohave County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program. Project Safe also works with young teens on the value of an animal and teaches a Junior Volunteer Program at Keepers of the Wild. Participating in local events helps bring awareness to issues that impact our children. Twice a year (Summer and Winter) Project Safe hosts an event for the entire family with the hope of bringing people in our community closer together. In October 2008 I traveled to South Africa to participate as a People to People Teacher Ambassador for Early Childhood Education. It was an amazing experience and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with some incredible people in education.
